Value Freedom

In 2009, the media extensively covered a debate as to whether the BBC should allow the BNP to be involved in one of its Question Time programmes. The decision was yes and the party leader, Nick Griffin, appeared on the programme:

Students could investigate the role of the BBC as a media outlet and discuss the extent to which the BBC is, or should be, ‘value free’. Further discussions could then be the extent to which we as individuals have the capacity to be ‘value free’ in our work (and research) and whether or not this should even be something we strive for?
