The Social Model of Health

The social model of health considers a broader range of factors that influence health and wellbeing, for example, environmental, economic, social and cultural. Students could begin by considering how a person’s health could be influenced (positively and/or negatively) by each of these four factors.

They could then find out about the spending priorities of their local Clinical Commissioning Group and try to identify ways in which these priorities take into account the broader range of factors provided for in this particular model of health. An example of a strategic plan can be found here:
