Absolutism

Absolutism is a political theory that suggests that power should be vested in a single individual ruler or authority. Some key thinkers are referred to as ‘enlightened absolutists’, referring to their position with regards to the Age of Enlightenment. (Materials on the enlightenment are available in the Theory and Methods section).
